The Lake Management Plan, as presented below, was approved by the WDNR in April 2026.  The management plan is used when applying for permits and grants to do conservation and project work. The plan also helps property owners understand the lake, its attributes, and how to steward it effectively.

The plan focuses on preserving the lake’s health improving water quality controlling invasive species. Key components include:

1. Aquatic Invasive Species Management: prevent further infestations through watercraft inspections, volunteer and professional monitoring, and targeted control measures like hand harvesting and herbicide treatments.
2. Water Quality Protection: maintain current conditions through regular monitoring phosphorus reduction efforts for example beaver dam removal and stakeholder education on blue-green algae blooms.
3. Navigability Improvements: support responsible mechanical harvesting to manage nuisance aquatic plant growth and ensure access to open water areas.
4. Stakeholder Engagement: Educate lake users through newsletters, social media and surveys, while fostering partnerships with local and state organizations to enhance lake management.
5. Ecological Enhancements: Promote shoreland restoration, protect natural shorelands, expand fish habitat with coarse woody debris projects, and continue winter aeration to support a healthy fishery.
